The nation and the world is facing a global pandemic unlike anything we’ve faced in our lifetimes. It is my perspective that we have been inundated with information - whether the constant headlines or updates on a cell phone, to the daily briefings, consistent emails from companies, and social media posts from those near and far - I hope everyone chooses to review the information to their comfort level. When information is accessed or sought out, I do ask that you receive information from reputable sources such as The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and The World Health Organization (WHO) – both websites are linked below.
As an insurance agent, I often find myself looking at things in a ‘worst case scenario perspective’, but with the consistent stream of information pertaining to COVID-19 I am instead trying a ‘how can I mitigate mine and my families risk against this virus’ approach. My husband has received orders to work from home and is sitting in his makeshift office in our dining room and I am typing this from my home office. While I would consider us home bodies normally, we are staying in even more than what we normally would and are attempting to catch up on movies we may have missed in the theater. We have chosen to go out as little as possible, limiting trips to the grocery store, gas station, post office, etc. to once a week, and all on the same day. We are using hand sanitizer when in public (thankfully we were able to find some!) and washing our hands as soon as we walk in the door.
Two people that I love dearly are nurses; while they aren’t on the front lines, they do not have the luxury of staying in and working remotely. Many of you are stocking shelves, interacting with customers, and transporting the goods that people are trying to locate. I am grateful for you and thankful for what you are doing.
This post is simply to let everyone know that I am here and available to you for all of your insurance needs. I have chosen to not conduct in person meetings during this time; I do, however, look forward to seeing you face to face in coming months. Please remember that we are ALL in this together and one small act of kindness and empathy may speak even more loudly today than it would have a mere month ago.
